Dr. Tarn de Ridder

Dr. Tarn de Ridder

Chiropractor

I grew up rurally in Whangarei, spending most of my teenage years horsing around which inevitably leads to falls and injuries. My first experience with a chiropractor came after one of these falls, and I couldn’t believe how much better I felt and could function! It was only a matter of time before I enrolled to study Chiropractic.
I graduated from New Zealand College of Chiropractic in 2014 with the Academic Excellence award and the Business Award. After graduating, I worked in Wellington for a couple of years then moved back to Whangarei with my husband, where I opened Tui Chiropractic in 2017.
I have two small children so I balance my time between work and looking after my family. We have 10 acres in Maungatapere with a couple of horses and some cows, and love the Northland lifestyle with family nearby and plenty of beaches.
I am passionate about helping improve people’s quality of life, naturally. I love adjusting people of all ages and have completed many different post-graduates courses so that I have plenty of different tools in my toolbox to suit different people!

Chiropractor

I grew up in Nelson for the first 18 years of my life, then moved onto study my passion of chiropractic. After graduating from the New Zealand College of Chiropractic in 2017, I returned to my roots and have worked in Nelson for the past two years. Now, I find myself in this beautiful city of Whangarei and am very excited to provide chiropractic care to our community.

My journey into chiropractic was underway long before I was born, as my parents had been receiving chiropractic care before my arrival. I began chiropractic care when I was 14 years of age after suffering a fall playing basketball. Chiropractic care allowed me to get back to playing basketball and other sports quicker than I had imagined.  I am thrilled to be able to give back to our community, just as chiropractic has done for me.

Basketball is a keen interest of mine, which I continue to play. I am also passionate about helping people reach their health goals, and allow them to function at their best through chiropractic.

Lisa Shervell-Megchelse

Chiropractic Assistant

Lisa’s background is rather diverse.  Originally from Takapuna, Lisa was educated in Dunedin where she attended Otago Polytechnic obtaining Trade Certificate in Shorthand Typing. Then with her parents moving to Whangarei Lisa also moved north where she married and had her two children. Lisa worked at the Whangarei Courts as a Shorthand Typist in the 1980s, which was an extremely interesting role.  Over the years Lisa has worked within large blue chip Accountancy and Law firms in both Dunedin and Auckland Cities, with the Bay of Plenty Regional Council in Whakatane, Real Estate in Whakatane and Ohope. Her final move is back to Whangarei after 32 years.  Lisa now has 3 grandsons in Whakatane and family in Whangarei.  She loves to visit the family, run, walk, garden, keep bees, renovate and enjoys her and her husband’s “muscle car” when doing long road trips south along with her dog Bella.
